Blue Arrow Goes Global – Turkmenistan
Turkmenistan is located in southwestern Central Asia and is a landlocked country with a territory of 491,200 square kilometers, about 80 percent of which is covered by the Karakum Desert. Turkmenistan is closely connected to countries such as China via the Central Asia Gas Pipeline, making it a critical transit hub for energy transportation along the Belt and Road Initiative. China and Turkmenistan—one boasting a vast consumer market and the other a major producer and exporter of “blue gold” natural gas—complement each other’s strengths, offering enormous potential for cooperation.
Deep within Turkmenistan’s Karakum Desert—specifically at the Revival Gas Field—this area was once dubbed by locals as a “drilling no-go zone” due to its complex geological conditions, including extremely high temperatures and pressures. Although the region boasts the world’s fourth-largest natural gas reserves, it had remained undeveloped for years because of technological bottlenecks and the harsh environmental conditions. It wasn’t until the arrival of Chinese builders that this “no-go zone” was finally brought to life, becoming the “lifeline” driving Turkmenistan’s economic takeoff. On this desolate desert landscape, Chinese builders started from scratch and successfully completed the renovation of an entire natural gas pipeline.
The Rezvani gas field is the world’s second-largest gas field and is known as “Turkmenistan’s underground natural gas storage facility.” It serves as the gas source for Turkmenistan’s “East-West” gas pipeline, China-Central Asia Pipeline Line D, and the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline. Blue Arrow has produced and supplied a batch of DC power supply units for the Rezvani gas field project in Turkmenistan. All units have now been fully manufactured and will be delivered shortly.
Gas cooperation is the cornerstone of China-Turkmenistan relations. From the China-Central Asia Gas Pipeline and Phase I of the "Revival" gas field to the Amu Darya gas project—lauded locally as a “model of open and cooperative development”—Turkmenistan’s natural gas has not only brought benefits to countless Chinese households but has also provided strong impetus for Turkmenistan’s economic and social development.
